Tell Your Senators: Support a Strong Start for Kids!

The search for high-quality affordable preschool and child care is a tough one for most families in the this country. It's shocking that child care and preschool actually costs more than college in the majority of U.S. states.

Fortunately, help may be on the way!

The Strong Start for America's Children Act was just introduced.  This bill is an exciting bipartisan step forward in expanding access to affordable, high-quality preschool and investing in high-quality early learning programs for infants and toddlers.

Ask your Senators to co-sponsor the Strong Start for America's Children Act and invest in our country's littlest learners!

As your constituent, I ask you to support high-quality early learning opportunities for children by co-sponsoring the Strong Start for America’s Children Act. I also request that you support a final budget that ends the sequester and includes significant new investments in early learning.

The research is clear: High-quality early learning opportunities put children on a path to success in school and in life. Unfortunately, many young children don’t have access to these opportunities. I’m counting on you to change that and invest in high-quality early learning and our country’s future.

Thanks for your consideration.

Sincerely,

The search for high-quality affordable preschool and child care is a tough one for most families in the this country. It was shocking to me to find out that child care and preschool actually costs more than college in the majority of U.S. states. [2]

Fortunately, help may be on the way!

This week, Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) and Representative George Miller (D-CA) and Richard Hanna (R-NY) introduced the Strong Start for America's Children Act. This bill is an exciting bipartisan step forward in expanding access to affordable, high-quality preschool and investing in high-quality early learning programs for infants and toddlers.

So, what exactly does the new Strong Start for America’s Children bill do?

It creates new partnerships between states and the federal government to help states and communities improve and expand high-quality, full-day preschool programs for four-year-olds from low- and moderate-income families. It would also provide new funding for high-quality early learning programs for infants and toddlers. [3]

    Why is preschool so important?

Leading economists agree, investments in high-quality early learning programs like preschool actually saves future dollars. [4]

Children who have high-quality early learning experiences are more likely to succeed in school, graduate from high school, gain stable employment, and less likely to be arrested. [5]

The Strong Start for America’s Children bill can actually help working families across the country and save future taxpayer dollars. The bill is a win for families and our economy!
