I’m a MomsRising member, and your constituent, and I'm writing to urge you to make passage of the Paycheck Fairness Act a top priority.
Paycheck fairness is not a just “women’s issue.” It’s a family issue and a national economic security issue. After all, the majority of purchasing decisions in our consumer-fueled economy are made by women, and when women don't have funds to spend at local stores, and in our communities, then there is a domino effect that negatively spreads across our entire economy. Further, most families need the wages of moms to make ends meet, and getting equal pay for equal work would go a long way toward helping family economic security, as well as toward putting the nation on the road to economic recovery.
Please move the Paycheck Fairness Act forward today.

It is July. We’re now 7 months into 2014 – in fact, it’s almost August. That means Black women had to work for more than 19 months to earn what white men earned in 12 months because Black women currently make only 64 cents to a white man's dollar.  That's not fair.
