Moms and family members from across Washington are asking you to use your legislative superpowers to advance mom-umental legislation this session that will lift families across our state. MomsRising members have been hard at work in support of an agenda that will empower wonder moms, super dads, and the heroes of Main Street alike.
We're asking your support for the following bills before next week's fiscal cutoff:
✅ The Washington CAN (Childcare Access Now) Act (HB 1344/SB 5436): Sets a goal of capping childcare expenses at 7% of a family’s income, and establishes the path to pay for the true cost of high-quality childcare, and invest in the workforce by increasing compensation. This includes immediately increasing payment rates to childcare providers accepting the Working Connections Child Care Subsidy to better cover the cost of care for our littlest learners.
✅ ECEAP expansion package (HB 1351/SB 5437): Increases the number children served through the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) by 2,600 AND pays for the true cost of high-quality pre-k by increasing the payment rate for ECEAP providers.
✅ Working Families Tax Credit (HB 1527/SB 5810): Creates a new state tax credit similar to the Earned Income Tax Credit for low- and moderate-income families and expands eligibility to include low-income students and workers caring for young children or aging adults.
✅ Unemployment insurance reform for caregivers (HB 1445/SB 5473): Modernizes state unemployment insurance laws to better reflect family caregiving needs. This bill will allow the state to consider things like availability of suitable childcare when evaluating unemployment insurance benefits eligibility.or work scheduling.
Moms and dads across Washington are counting on legislator superheroes like you! Thank you for all that you do!
