Time to Limit Power Plant Emissions to Fight Asthma and Climate Change

The EPA has opened public comments on a terrific proposed rule that would limit carbon pollution from new power plants. Would this rule make our air cleaner? Yes! Would it help fight climate change too? YES!

Coal-fired power plants are the United States' largest source of climate-changing emissions, producing close to 40% of the nation’s carbon pollution. Limiting carbon pollution will not only help fight climate change but also reduce smog, which provokes asthma attacks. Right now one in 10 U.S. kids have asthma and that number is rising every day. The proposed new carbon rule will reduce pollution by 123 billion pounds of carbon annually. (Yes - that's billion with a "B"!)

Your signature is needed now. If the EPA receives overwhelming support from the public for the proposed carbon rule on new power plants, it will help help move the proposed rule forward quickly to reach the White House for President Obama to sign into law.

Climate change can't wait. Neither can we.
I just signed this petition supporting limits on carbon emissions from power plants.

Moms and families really need to be hot and bothered about power plants. Why? Because coal-fired power plants account for about 40 percent of the greenhouse gas emissions produced by the United States that cause climate change. You heard that right – 40 percent! Yet, this source is completely unregulated.

We can’t wait any longer. We need to put limits on power plant carbon emissions and begin doing something about climate change now.

Would you please sign the petition too?
