Tell Mayor Nutter - Sign the paid sick days bill!

Two weeks ago, the Philadelphia City Council passed paid sick days by an 11-6 vote. Mayor Michael Nutter has the power to sign this important legislation into law, but last time the bill was passed, he vetoed it. This time has got to be different. Too many Philly residents, four in 10, live in fear of losing their job if they call in sick or if they have to stay home with a sick child. It isn't right. We've got to give it everything we've got to make Philly a healthier, more just place.

I've got some great news for you! The Philadelphia City Council passed paid sick days with an 11-6 vote on March 14. [1]

Together, we sent hundreds of messages encouraging the City Council to pass the ordinance, and the majority of the Council listened. Thank you so much for every message, story, and phone call.

Unfortunately, we can’t celebrate quite yet – the bill now goes to Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. The last time the city council passed the paid sick days bill, Mayor Nutter vetoed it. We need this time to be different.
