Dear Member of Congress:
We applaud the U.S. House of Representatives’ plan to make permanent the fully refundable part of the Child Tax Credit so the program ensures all eligible low-income children have access to this critical support, and also to extend the increased size of the Child Tax Credit to 2025. We urge you to take the next step for women and families and pass the reconciliation package, including: paid family/medical leave, child care, home- and community-based services, and creating a path to citizenship for immigrants, who are essential to our care infrastructure, and of course, making permanent the full refundability of the Child Tax Credit.
We need to keep that momentum going by permanently extending the refundable part of the CTC so all eligible low-income children receive it and extend the increased credit itself. If you don’t act by the end of the year, millions of children and their families will lose out on the expanded monthly tax credit which has been critical in helping families raise their kids.
Please stand up for our families and include the extension of the expanded Child Tax Credit with full refundability, and the other key elements of a care economy like paid family/medical leave, child care, home- and community-based services, and creating protections for immigrants, in any recovery or infrastructure package passed by Congress. These programs are essential for lowering family costs.
Sincerely,
