The Beacon program is a close community and network of parent and caregiver activists across the country, who collaborate with and support MomsRising and each other as they strengthen their advocacy, take action, and make a real difference for their families, communities, and the nation.

If you are fired up to take action, build skills, and be part of a caring and supportive community, then the Beacons program is for you!
Whether you’re an experienced leader or new to organizing, this volunteer program will give you hands-on support and guidance, including how to:
Organize meet-ups and events
Educate lawmakers
Speak to the media
Share your story around issues that matter to you
And much more!
Program details:
Each volunteer New Beacon Community Leader (or New Beacon) will:
Gain skills to share their story, organize their community, and educate leaders around issues like affordability, healthcare, and more.
Increase their confidence and effectiveness, and those of leaders and organizers, through skills training, mentoring, and ample room to practice and grow.
Have the chance & choice to lead events on the ground, as part of our million-member movement of parents and caregivers. We’ll provide lots of easy, impactful event ideas and materials to make it easier.
Grow their community of support, working with Beacons from across the country via virtual meetings, group chats, national actions, and more.
MomsRising will back you up every step of the way. This is a doable, hands-on experience for parents and caregivers with busy lives! Our goal is to make this experience as impactful and successful as possible. This includes:
Virtual meetings are held on one Tuesday evening each month.
Coaching and mentoring
An advance volunteer reimbursement stipend
A toolkit with useful and exciting items to organize in your community and build the broader MomsRising movement.
No prior leadership experience required!
Meetings are held in English, with simultaneous translation into Spanish.

The final cohort will be chosen in early March.
