What: For the 8th year in a row, Triangle families are invited to celebrate MLK Day with a family-friendly birthday party for Dr. King at Northgate in Durham. Join us for free story times, interactive activities, crafts, performances, service projects, and birthday cake as we celebrate Dr. King’s life and legacy in a way that kids can understand.
This year we are celebrating the courage of the children who put themselves on the frontlines of the civil rights struggle and reminding the kids in our community of their own power to help change the world for the better.
In continuing Dr. King’s commitment to service, participants are asked to donate nonperishable food, gently used children’s winter clothing and coats, or new underwear/ socks for local families in need served by Urban Ministries of Durham.
When: The party will take place on MLK Day, Monday, January 15th. The party will start at 10:00 am, with celebration on the main stage beginning at 12 pm followed by the singing of Happy Birthday to Dr. King and the sharing of cake at 12:30 pm.
