Have you ever noticed how children tend to go and hide when they are about to do something they know they shouldn’t do? As though they hope that somehow if you don’t see them do it you won’t notice what they’ve been up to?

Well, NC legislators did something similar on Tuesday night. Our legislators went into session at 12:05 AM and voted under cover of darkness to override Gov. Perdue’s courageous veto of an budget that will be devastating for NC children and families.

I'm saddened today for the hard-working people of NC who will lose their jobs, the children whose opportunities will be short-changed, the families hurt, and the institutions which took decades to build and were wiped out with a single vote.

I'm deeply appreciative of Gov. Perdue’s courageous veto of this damaging budget and of the NC lawmakers who voted against it.

*Can you join me in thanking the Governor for her veto? http://action.momsrising.org/letter/NC_2011_Gov_Perdue/?source=taf

    Thanks!
