Moms need not apply?! No way.

Did you know that it is LEGAL in Pennsylvania for an employer to ask you if you are a mom during a job interview? And then, that information could potentially keep you from getting the job?

Shocking, but true. The fact is that maternal profiling is alive and well in Pennsylvania and it is time for it to stop.

A set of bills has been introduced in the Pennsylvania State House and Senate that would prohibit employers from inquiring about maternal or marital status in a job interview.

Our state legislators need to hear from us so they know that there is wide support for this important legislation!

Dear Pennsylvania State Legislator,

As your constituent, I am writing to ask for your support in ending hiring discrimination against Pennsylvania moms.

Right now, in Pennsylvania, it is legal for employers to ask invasive questions about an applicant's parental or marital status in a job interview. This opens the door for businesses to discriminate against parents, especially mothers.

Senator Leach and Representative Snyder are sponsoring bills that will protect working mothers from hiring discrimination based on maternal or marital status. Please do everything in your power to support this important legislation.

Thank you.

    I can't believe that's legal in Pennsylvania!
