Stand up for our values: Treat child refugees humanely!

Tens of thousands of unaccompanied child refugees from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador are being driven from their homes by organized crime, gangs and violence. Leaving their country is often a last resort. If the children are returned from the U.S. , they face additional threats of violence and even death. (1) This is a humanitarian emergency.

The average age of an unaccompanied child refugee from Central America to the United States is 13 and approximately 40% of these children are girls. Even girls little more than preschool-aged are being targeted by gangs and criminals. (2)

It's time to tell Congress and the President to stand up for our values as a nation. Please sign onto our letter on the right asking our elected officials to treat child refugees from Central America fairly by making sure that their immediate needs are met and that they are given due process. Thank you!

Dear President Obama and U.S. Congress,

There are tens of thousands of children at our border, children who are alone, afraid and without their parents or other protectors. This humanitarian crisis is breaking our hearts. We ask that you act quickly and find solutions that reflect our nation's highest values. Please make sure that all Central American child refugees are treated humanely, that their immediate needs are met and that they are all given fair due process. Thank you.

Will you speak for the border children too?
    Dear Friend,

Tens of thousands of child refugees from Central America are arriving alone at the U.S. border without anyone to protect them, many driven from their homes by organized crime, gangs, and violence.

The average age of the child refugees is thirteen years old, and approximately 40% are girls. Even girls who are little more than preschool-aged are being targeted by gangs and criminals in Central America. Leaving their countries is often a last resort. If these child refugees are sent back from the U.S., then many face additional threats of violence and even death.

    This is a humanitarian emergency.

Will you join me in telling Congress and the President to stand up for our values as a nation? Please sign onto MomsRising's letter asking our elected officials to treat child refugees from Central America fairly by making sure that their immediate needs are met and that they are given all due process.
