Governor Scott: Veto the bad bill!

Last week the Florida legislature passed a bill that prevents local governments from writing and passing earned sick time laws and voters from petitioning to put earned sick time initiatives on the ballot such as the pending referendum in Orange County. [1]

Our last hope is to convince Governor Rick Scott to veto the bill and stand up for moms, families, and democracy. You can send him a message here. Tell him to veto the bad bill!

Dear Governor Rick Scott,

Please protect Florida moms and families by vetoing HB 655. No parent should have to choose between sending a child to school sick and protecting their livelihood. Floridians should be able to earn sick leave, and they should be able to organize for sick leave in their communities.

HB 655 is anti-mom and anti-democracy, please don't make it Florida law.

Thank you.

Let's get this bad bill vetoed!
I just wrote to Governor Scott to ask him to veto a bill that will block Florida communities from passing earned sick days bills. No one should have to choose between taking care of themselves or a child and keeping their job.

You should take a second and sign it too!
