Women make up 54% of the electorate in NC, but don’t vote in those numbers. Moms have a lot on our plates and sometimes voting may slip off the radar screen on a busy Tuesday night. Or we feel like we don’t have time to learn enough about the candidates to know who should get our vote. We need to
make sure that doesn’t happen this year.

I wanted to make sure you saw this hilarious video by MomsRising encouraging moms to go vote. Any mom that’s ever waited in line with their kids will be laughing out loud. Check it out (http://action.momsrising.org/signup/NC_ImportantVideo?source=taf), and then please share it with your friends. We’re trying to encourage all NC moms to get out and vote.

By every measure, the Presidential election and many state and local elections are very close and every vote matters. Our voices will be critical in this election and we need to get out there and make sure our votes are counted.

I also wanted to make sure you knew that Early Voting is underway in North Carolina and runs from Oct 18-Nov 3. Early voting is perfect for busy parents like us who worry that we’ll be too busy on Election Day. It also provides an opportunity for those who missed the regular voting registration deadline to register and vote on the same day at an Early Voting site in your county during the Early Voting period. (You can’t do this on Election Day!)

You can use any of the Early Voting sites in your county, and you don’t need an excuse to use Early Voting. Some locations are even open evenings and weekends. And all ballots cast early by eligible voters are counted and help determine the election winner, just like the ballots cast on Election Day.

It’s a perfect option to help even the busiest parent find a time to cast their ballot!
