RSVP: Raise your voice for Paid Family and Medical Leave on Feb. 9!

In the past month, families across Washington have sent thousands of emails and phone calls to the State Legislature urging lawmakers' strong support of paid family and medical leave -- and that hard work has paid off! On Thursday, February 9th, HB 1116 -- a strong bill for paid family and medical leave in Washington -- will be heard in the House Appropriations Committee. This is a HUGE milestone that paid family leave hasn't reached since 2007 -- that's ten years ago!

Can you join us on Thursday to help move paid family and medical leave forward? The House Appropriations Committee is a critical milestone for moving the bill forward to passage in the House. We want to PACK the room full of moms, dads, and kiddos to show legislators that families are counting on them to pass a strong paid family and medical leave policy this session. Can we count you in?

Here are the details:

Who: MomsRising members, babies and kiddos, and you!

What: Appropriations hearing on Paid Family and Medical Leave (HB 1116)

When: Thursday, February 9th from 2:30-5 p.m.*

*From 2:30 - 3:30, we will be delivering petition signatures and superhero capes to the Appropriations Committee members to remind them that families are counting on them to use their legislator superpowers to boost Washington families! *We'll have capes for kiddos too!

The House Appropriations Committee Hearing starts at 3:30. At 3:30, we will head to House Hearing Room A in the John L. O'Brien Building. If you cannot join us for the first part of the day, you can meet us there! Make sure to RSVP so we can sign you in as supportive of the bill!

Where: Washington State Capitol in Olympia, WA (215 Sid Snyder Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98501)

We will leave the Pritchard Library Cafeteria at 2:30 to deliver superhero capes and petition signatures to the Appropriations Committee members. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to find parking.

At 3:30, we will be meeting in House Hearing Room A in the John L. O'Brien Building.
