Dear Members of Congress,
Working families and businesses are depending on you to pass family friendly policies. Good policies like paid family and medical leave that allow employees the ability to take the time they need to care for themselves and their loved ones during critical times; and allow businesses to retain employees, increase productivity, and save funds on recruitment and retraining.
What working families don’t need is a continuation of pushing failed policies that fall far short of being a national paid family and medical leave program – and which haven’t meaningfully advanced or expanded the kind of paid leave coverage we know, and research confirms, is necessary to lift families, businesses, and the economy alike.
The benefits of good paid family and medical leave policies and programs are well documented. A national and comprehensive paid family and medical leave program would ensure that people can take the time they need to welcome a new child or to address serious health and caregiving needs. It would benefit small businesses, reducing turnover costs and increasing employee retention. It would also help our economy thrive by ensuring employees stay attached to the workforce.
Good paid leave policies are good for families, businesses and the economy. Families are counting on you to support and pass good paid family and medical leave policies.
Thank you,
