Share Your Story About Police In Schools

WE ARE COLLECTING STORIES AND WE NEED YOUR VOICE!
Did you know that there are 1.7 million students in schools with police but no counselors?; 10 million students are in schools with police but no social workers?; And 14 million students are in schools with police but no counselor, nurse, psychologist, or social worker?
The school-to-prison pipeline has resulted in over 250,000 children under the age of 12 being arrested in the United States. That is why we need you to join our movement to inform our communities and schools of strategies to increase school safety that don’t promote the school-to-prison pipeline.
We know that there are other ways to increase school safety that don’t promote the school-to-prison pipeline and that have been proven to be successful, like:
- More mental health staff and counselors,
- Social-emotional learning, and
- Trauma-informed care in our schools.
MomsRising is mobilizing to create school communities where all kids, particularly Black, Brown, LGBTQIA+, low-income, and students with disabilities can thrive. We are collecting stories to create materials to educate school districts, legislators, and lawmakers about school safety and student support because police in schools do not make schools any safer. Your story is powerful!
How have police in schools impacted you and/or your loved one(s)?
PLEASE SHARE YOUR STORY WITH US! THANK YOU!
