Dear Representative,
I am writing as your constituent to express my concern and alarm following your recent YES vote in favor of the House Budget resolution.
By voting in favor of this bill, you voted to raise costs, to damage our economy, and to hurt our families. You voted for cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that would leave 13.7 million Americans without health insurance. You voted to rip SNAP coverage from roughly 3 million people through cuts of more than $300 billion from SNAP—all while grocery prices are rising rapidly. You voted to cut funding from public schools—which are already sorely underfunded—in order to fund $5 billion in private school vouchers when private schools are not even available in many areas. You authorized a blank check for the Trump Administration to commit human rights abuses against immigrant families without due process.
The list goes on—and all this harm is being done to hand billionaires and mega-corporations tax cuts, at the direct expense of families, parents, and caregivers having the resources they need to work, raise their children, and strengthen our communities through programs like Medicaid, SNAP, and public education.
I am deeply disappointed and very concerned about how this budget will impact our community and our children’s futures, the economy, and our country.
Sincerely,
