Dear Senator,
In honor of the 16th Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, we call on the U.S. Senate to immediately hold a vote to renew the ACA tax credits that expired at the start of this year.
The consequences of inaction are no longer theoretical: Since the expiration of the enhanced ACA tax credits, Marketplace enrollment is already down by over 1 million sign-ups. [1] Premiums have doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled, imposing an average additional cost of $1,016 per year on individuals already struggling with the rising cost of living. We cannot afford to wait while more Americans forego coverage due to the skyrocketing costs of health care and basic necessities like rent and groceries. Without the enhanced ACA tax credits, an estimated 4 million Americans will be priced out of the market entirely. [3]
The U.S. House of Representatives has already taken bipartisan action in January to extend these credits for three years. We urge the Senate to follow their lead and hold a vote to renew the ACA tax credits to make health care affordable for millions of Americans.
