Dear Executive Councilor,
As your constituent and one of thousands of MomsRising members in New Hampshire, I am writing to urge you to immediately approve the Department of Health and Human Services’ contract amendment with Pyramid Model Consortium for Professional Development Services for Inclusive Practices and Social Emotional Development in Early Childhood Care and Education.
New Hampshire families are already facing a child care crisis. Costs are too high, providers are stretched thin, and too many families are struggling to find safe, affordable, high-quality care. Each month, more than 17,000 Granite State caregivers are kept out of the workforce because they cannot access the child care they need. This crisis impacts children, parents, employers, and our state’s economy.
This $1.2 million in 100% federally funded support would strengthen Granite Steps for Quality, expand professional development for child care providers, improve support for children with disabilities and developmental delays, and help ensure more families can access the quality care they deserve.
Delaying or rejecting this funding over political concerns about diversity, equity, and inclusion language puts children, families, providers, and our already fragile child care system at greater risk. In child care, inclusive practices are about making sure all children, including those with disabilities or developmental delays, can safely access supportive, high-quality environments where they can thrive. Families raising children with additional needs already face significant barriers to finding care. These families need more support, not more obstacles. We are asking you to trust child care providers, families, and experts who are working every day to build a system that can care for all children.
New Hampshire cannot afford to lose critical federal resources that would strengthen child care infrastructure and better support working families. I urge you to take this contract off the table, move it forward without further delay, and prioritize real solutions for Granite State children and families.
Sincerely,
