Send a Letter to the Editor saying "Families need Care Infrastructure now!"
For many moms, this has been a year of NO BREAKS. It has been a year of virtual learning, diaper changing on work calls, nonstop cooking, cleaning, figuring out unemployment, vaccine hunting for elderly parents, caring for sick family members, and more while being everything our kids and families needed us to be.
This Mother’s day, it’s time to say that even though flowers and candy are great, moms NEED MORE. Moms need Congress to act now to finally, FINALLY catch up with the rest of the world and build a care infrastructure and one of the most high-impact ways we can get their attention is to flood our local newspaper with letters on the issues that matter most to our families. We need to let our elected leaders know that they must make sure we can all thrive—especially women, moms, and communities of color who have been bearing the brunt of COVID’s impact. And that in order to build back better we will need long-term investments that lift working families and our economy.
That's why we need YOU to take action now!
One of the most high-impact, powerful things you can do right now is send a letter to the editor to your local paper calling on your elected leaders to build A BIG, BOLD care infrastructure with universal childcare, paid family medical leave for all, living wages, and a path to citizenship for all care workers, and home- and community-based services! It's very easy and we'll walk you through all the steps below.
Here’s how to send your letter:
1) Fill in your name and contact information on this page in the form and click NEXT. Important note: We ask for your phone number because papers require this info with all letters, but your phone will NOT be published or shared!
2) When you get to the next screen, choose a newspaper for your letter—and then click on the Sample, Letter, and Talking Points buttons to write your letter. If you want to use part, or all of that sample letter, just copy and paste the text into the small empty box to the right on that page. It's easy!
3) Click send and watch for your letter to be published!
