Dear Member of Congress,
We call on you to denounce the repugnant, baseless “Great Replacement” theory, a conspiracy theory that preposterously asserts that “native-born” white Americans are being purposely and intentionally replaced by immigrants and people of color to dilute the power of the white majority.
Right now, one quarter of children born in the United States have immigrant parents, and virtually all American families originally came to this country from other lands. The only “native-born” Americans are Native Americans. Immigrants have been a constant source of strength and vitality for our society and economy. They bring cultural riches, as well as skill sets and educational backgrounds that complement rather than compete with workers born here. They launch new companies and create jobs at twice the rate of people born here.
The “Great Replacement” theory inspired the recent Buffalo mass shooter, as well as a long line of other racially motivated mass shooters, including at the Sikh temple in Oak Creek, WI, Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston, the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, the Walmart in El Paso, the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, sites in Atlanta, Indianapolis, and many other places.
This dangerous theory is a direct threat to the peace and safety of our communities and to the foundations of the country, which has been built on people coming to this country from all corners of the world.
You must publicly and loudly denounce the “Great Replacement” theory immediately, and show your constituents that you serve all of us, and not only those of us who are white.
Sincerely,
