Dear Member of Congress,
We applaud the temporary improvements made to the Child Tax Credit and care infrastructure policies to support families with the recent passage of the in the American Rescue Plan; and would like to thank every member of Congress who voted for these policies. We urge you to take the next step for women and families and pass the reconciliation package, including: paid family/medical leave, child care, a permanently expanded and fully refundable Child Tax Credit, home- and community-based services, access to unbiased healthcare and addressing the Black maternal health crisis, and creating a path to citizenship for immigrants, who are essential to our care infrastructure.
Studies show that passage of the reconciliation package will help boost families, create jobs for women, particularly women of color who have experienced compounded health and economic harms during the pandemic, and lift our economy. A recent Moody’s analytics study found that building a care infrastructure will increase our national GDP by 10 to 15 basis points over time.
Please keep up your leadership on behalf of families and our economy by quickly moving forward with the reconciliation package. This will create good care jobs, enable parents to work in much-needed jobs, cut child poverty in half, help address structural inequality, and boost businesses and our economy. It’s a win-win-win.
Sincerely,
