Tell Republican Leaders: No Reverse Robin Hood Funding Deal ❌ 👑

Republicans in Congress are threatening to shut down the government unless they are able to increase health care costs, defund public education, and raise other costs of living for families. Talk about a reverse Robin Hood – robbing working families to give it to the ultra-rich. Republicans control the House, the Senate, AND the White House. If the government shuts down, it's because they chose to shut it down rather than pass a funding bill that serves the American people.

We need Congress to support and vote for a bipartisan funding bill that doesn’t eliminate tax credits for health care or give new tax breaks to the wealthy elite. Budgets are moral documents and reflect our shared values and priorities - Republicans in Congress are choosing to prioritize the wealthy elite and corporations, even if that means forcing a government shutdown. Moreover, Congress must assert its powers to tax and spend, include necessary, enforceable legislative safeguards against administration funding freezes and unilateral rescissions, and commit to protecting the agreements reached in a bipartisan funding bill. Families don’t have time to waste, we need leaders to fight to lower costs for hardworking families and invest in programs that allow families to thrive.

Our nation is facing a crisis: families are hurting from the rising costs of essentials like groceries, gas, childcare, and now health care, especially with the ACA enhanced premium tax credit set to expire at the end of 2025. Moreover, extreme cuts have been made to Medicaid, SNAP, and other highly popular and critical programs to pay for tax cuts for billionaires and separating families, human rights abuses, and terrifying hardworking immigrants—people essential to our care workforce, our economy, our communities, our families, and our future.

These budget choices are squeezing families and communities. Please prioritize our families and urgently pass a budget that invests in the things we need: health care, nutrition, education, and research into life-saving cures.

Please reject proposals that continue harmful cuts to health, education, nutrition, and disaster relief programs, all of which are programs that lift our families, business, and the economy. Moreover, Congress must include necessary, enforceable legislative safeguards against administration funding freezes and unilateral recissions, and commit to protecting the agreements reached in a bipartisan funding deal. Pass a budget that preserves the power of Congress to tax and spend—and builds a strong economy by making health care, education, and food affordable for hard working families.
