Dear Member of Congress:
We applaud the U.S. House of Representatives’ plan to make permanent the fully refundable part of the Child Tax Credit so the program ensures all eligible low-income children have access to this critical support, and also to extend the increased size of the Child Tax Credit to 2025. We urge you to take the next step for women and families and pass the reconciliation package, including: paid family/medical leave, child care, home- and community-based services, and creating a path to citizenship for immigrants, who are essential to our care infrastructure, and of course, making permanent the full refundability of the Child Tax Credit.
One of the major strengths of these policies is how much they lift up families, our economy, and specifically women of color who are facing structural inequality. In fact, 3.4 million Latinas and 2 million Black women will directly benefit from the expansion of the Child Tax Credit. The improvements to the Child Tax Credit alone cut child poverty in half and studies already show that these payments are reducing hunger and poverty for American families
We need to keep that momentum going by permanently extending the refundable part of the CTC so all eligible low-income children receive it and extend the increased credit itself.
Please stand up for our families and Include the permanent refundability of the Child Tax Credit and the other key elements of a care economy like paid family/medical leave, child care, home- and community-based services, and creating a path to citizenship for immigrants, in any recovery or infrastructure package passed by Congress.
Sincerely,
