Dear EEOC Commissioners,
MomsRising members across the country strongly encourage you to prioritize policies that protect LGBTQIA+ workers and advance pay equity. We are deeply alarmed by the recent rollbacks that undermine federal employment protections for the LGBTQIA+ community. We demand that the Commission immediately fulfill its legal mandate to protect all workers from harassment and discrimination, free from political agendas.
Specifically, we call on the EEOC to:
- Enforce Lawful Protections: Immediately reverse course and fully enforce employment protections for transgender and nonbinary workers, ensuring safe and equitable work environments.
- Reinstate Workplace Guidance: Restore the critical technical assistance and comprehensive workplace harassment guidance that explicitly protects workers on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
- Save EEO-1 Demographic Data: Halt any efforts to eliminate the 60-year-old EEO-1 demographic data collection. This data is a cornerstone of civil rights enforcement, essential for tracking systemic pay discrimination, and critical for ensuring all workers – including the next generation entering the workforce – are fairly represented.
Economic security is a necessity for family survival. We urge the EEOC to protect the rights, dignity, and paychecks of LGBTQIA+ workers across the nation.
