BREAKING: Reproductive rights threats to Texas, threatens us all.

The new law in Texas bans abortion as early as SIX weeks and allows ANY person to sue a person or organization that provides abortion care or helps someone obtain an abortion. For people with regular menstruation cycles, this means that they have only two weeks after a missed period to determine a pregnancy -- that’s before many people even know they are pregnant. Not only is this kind of pressure not fair to people in need of reproductive care, it is medically unnecessary and serves as a direct attack on people living in border communities, communities of color, and people with low income.

Dear Member of Congress:

Earlier this year, we all witnessed the most extreme abortion-ban bill Texas has ever seen go into effect and is now law. It has become clear that threats towards reproductive healthcare in Texas are a threat to reproductive healthcare, rights, and justice everywhere. The Supreme Court has a chance to make things right this time around; to block the law and protect our reproductive rights.

As one of over a million members of MomsRising, I am writing to ask that you support the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA)! WHPA is essential to social and economic equality, reproductive autonomy, and the right to determine our own lives. People hurt most by abortion restrictions are those who already face barriers to accessing health care —particularly Black, Brown, Latino, Indigenous, and other POC in Texas and elsewhere already living in fear for their lives due to police violence in their communities and schools, food insecurity, and now these attacks on our access to reproductive health care.

There is no time to waste. We are in a state of emergency as lives are on the line.

WHPA will protect the right to access abortion care throughout the U.S. by safeguarding access against bans and medically unnecessary restrictions, hundreds of which have been passed in recent years by anti-abortion state lawmakers. Anyone who needs an abortion in the United States, deserves quality, affordable medical care, and a relationship with their health care provider that is free from government intrusion.
