Dear Member of Congress:
Women have been the living and breathing infrastructure of our country through our lives and labor. However, affordable health care (including reproductive health care), robust investments in direct spending to build comprehensive child care (including early learning), making the improvements to the Child Tax Credit permanent, and permanent paid family and medical leave, and a pathway to citizenship for essential workers including farmworkers, Dreamers, and TPS holders are the infrastructure policies that we need to thrive.
What do roads, bridges, child care, and paid leave have in common? They all enable us to work and to get to work. We need a holistic approach that ensures working parents and women have the support needed to get back to the workforce while also being able to take care of their families.
If we truly want to Build Back Better and improve the infrastructure of our country, these investments must be prioritized. Any attempt at passing infrastructure without sufficient support for paid family leave, child care, a permanent Child Tax Credit expansion, and family care and/or affordable health care, and a pathway to citizenship, is not a complete infrastructure package.
Please support a big, bold infrastructure package that prioritizes women and families.
Sincerely,
