Breonna Taylor was a dreamer, a go-getter, she was an award-winning EMT, an essential worker at two hospitals during the pandemic and a model citizen. She was beloved by her friends and family.

On March 13th, the Louisville Police Department performed an illegal, unannounced drug raid on her home. Not a single officer announced themselves before ramming down her door and firing 22 shots, shooting Breonna 8 times, killing her. The officers were at the WRONG HOUSE, and the person they were looking for had already been arrested earlier that day.

Two months later and the officers responsible are still employed by the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) and no charges have been filed. Instead the LMPD spent weeks treating Breonna like she was a criminal, calling her a “suspect” before admitting that she was an innocent and had committed no crime.

This miscarriage of justice has gone on too long. Breonna is dead, and the perpetrators are facing no charges.

It's time to demand Justice for Breonna and her family!

Dear Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer,

It has been three months! We are heartbroken, outraged and horrified by the details surrounding the murder of Breonna Taylor. By now you know Breonna would have celebrated her 27th birthday this past Friday, a birthday she will never celebrate because she was gunned down in her own home and shot more than eight times. The recklessness of the officers who barged in with no warrant and took her life can not be understated. Still, more than two months after cops murdered her, these same three officers have faced no consequences for their actions and are still employed by the Louisville Metro Police Department. This is a great injustice to Breonna Taylor, her family, the citizens of Louisville and the country.

We urge you to:

Fire the three officers John Mattingly, Brett Hankison, Myles Cosgrove and any other officer involved in the death of Breonna Taylor.
Charges and the immediate arrests of the officers involved, specifically John Mattingly, Brett Hankison, Myles Cosgrove, and any other officer involved in the death of Breonna Taylor must be made NOW.
Work with Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Louisville Police Department immediately. Not an in-house investigation.

These officers must immediately be fired and charged for illegally entering her home and for taking Breonna Taylor’s life.
