The chants of "Send her back" at President Trump’s campaign rally in Greenville last night were terrifying.  Not only did it send a vile and racist message, it made moms fear for their children, their families, their neighbors, their own safety, and our nation. 

We know the current environment of harmful and toxic racism, sexism, and xenophobia is nothing new. We also understand that the amplification of hate and white supremacy from the highest office in our nation is creating increasingly dangerous levels of physical vulnerability, violence, toxic stress, and anxiety. We recognize that there are real impacts of this vile moment on all of us and our families. We will not have it. 

Last night’s tirade came on the heels of a series of hate speech from the White House. On Tuesday, the president doubled-down on his use of one of the most recognizable phrases among racist tropes, “They should go back to where they came from,” at a press conference right on the grounds of the White House. The elected officials under attack in his rant were U.S. Representatives Ilhan Omar, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, Ayana Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib. All are women of color. All are citizens of the United States. 

Moms want what's best for our kids, our families, and our future. That means voting for candidates who ensure our loved ones keep health care coverage no matter what, who work to get us equal pay for equal work, who work toward access to nurturing childcare we can afford, and who work to stop hate and white supremacy, not promote it! There’s so much at stake--and there’s so much good we can make happen when we all vote.
