Dear member of Congress:
As moms and people who care about children and families, we urge you to support the Restoring Food Security for American Families and Farmers Act of 2025, which will undo the cuts to SNAP enacted in H.R.1 that damage the economy, businesses, and families alike. Funding for nutrition programs doesn't just lift the economy, it’s also popular– 66% of voters want funding for nutrition programs to be increased, not taken away!
Recently, millions of moms experienced hunger, panic, and harm to their families when SNAP benefits were delayed during the shutdown. The delays reveal how critical SNAP benefits are for our economy and also for the 42 million people who use them to take care of their families, contribute to their communities, and build good lives.
SNAP is not only essential for families, it’s also important for our communities, businesses, and the economy. Each dollar in federally funded SNAP benefits generates $1.79 in economic activity, boosting farmers, retailers, and the economy. The harm caused by the SNAP cuts will ripple across the economy. Over the next 6 months, the SNAP cuts will decrease sales for small grocers by as much as 6.7%. Over the next decade, the decline in household food purchases will cause farmers to lose roughly $24 billion, which is an enormous loss for farmers!
Hardworking families are already facing high grocery prices and stagnating job growth and wages. Now is NOT the time to cut food access for millions of people. We urge you to sign the Restoring Food Security for American Families and Farmers Act of 2025.
Sincerely,
