Tell Jim Lehrer why your family needs to hear the candidates talk about climate change

Jim Lehrer of the PBS NewsHour will moderate Election 2012’s first presidential debate on October 3. Over the years, the PBS NewsHour has produced many well-regarded news segments on global warming, a distinguished track record Mr. Lehrer must bring to the debate.

Please tell Mr. Lehrer, in your own words, what the issue means to your family and why he must question Romney and Obama about how they would address the critical issue of climate change.

We will gather your appeal into a collection of personal appeals, which we will deliver to Mr. Lehrer's office at the PBS NewsHour.

*Wondering what to say?  Here's what one member from Virgina wrote:

My daughter is part of the growing asthma epidemic in the United States. This summer, we had rampant forest fires, floods and droughts like never before. There's little doubt that all of this is tied to climate change. What kind of future can my children look forward to? I need to know what Obama and Romney intends to do about the climate crisis. I think all American families need to know. Please Mr. Lehrer, be the champion of families and ask our presidential candidates about this critical issue when you moderate the presidential debate on Oct. 3. Thank you.
