Drop by the local offices of your members of Congress by February 23 to urge them to pass DREAM legislation!
On March 5, 800,000 DREAMers (young immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children, applied for and received legal documentation, and were raised here), will lose their legal status, and with it their protections and their ability to work, drive, and attend college.
*Sign up to deliver our fact sheets on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to Congressional offices to urge our legislators to pass critically needed protections for DREAMers.
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has the power to put legislation on the floor for a vote that would protect DREAMers but hasn’t, even though there is wide support for DREAMers in Congress and across the country.
And that's not all, during budget negotiations in January, he also refused to include DREAM legislation. The Majority Leader instead said that he would have stand alone legislation on the floor by February 8. That deadline has come and gone -- and we still have no legislation for DREAMers!
This is unconscionable! Without this legislation, DREAMers who have had their legal status taken away are now facing the prospect that they will be unable to continue their education, lose their jobs, and won't be able to live in the country they have grown up in.
Together we can make a difference!
We can make sure our members of Congress call on Republican leadership to stay true to Senator McConnell's word and take immediate action to pass protections for DREAMers!
It’s easy! You don’t need to be an expert on immigration policy. You just need to care about immigrants in your family, schools, workplaces, and community.
Drop-bys are a great way for constituents to educate their members of Congress about the contributions and needs of families -- and when lots of us do it together, it can send a strong message that families want Congress to protect DREAMers!
