Immigrants are our nation’s strength! In fact, 2.6 million health care workers are immigrants, including 314,000 refugees, nearly 40 percent of home care workers are immigrants, and in states like California, nearly 40 percent of child care workers are immigrants. It’s no wonder that 80% of Americans support a path to citizenship for immigrants.
At a time when there are nearly 10 million open jobs in the economy, the majority of the women with children age 5 and under, and half of women with children above age 5 who are not looking for work – although they want to, are not looking for jobs because of childcare or family responsibilities. Labor shortages caused by a lack of a strong care infrastructure are fueling inflation and threatening our economic recovery. It’s clear that immigrants are critical for our nation’s families, our care infrastructure, businesses, including women-owned businesses, and our economy.
We need to hear about the immigrant mothers, neighbors, caregivers and community members in your life so that we can continue to be a voice for ALL of our families.
