United State of Women Summit: Morning of Action!
The White House United State of Women Summit on gender equality will be an inspiring celebration of women. It will also be a powerful platform for advancing the issues that most impact our lives. MomsRising will be there building, elevating and exerting our voice on behalf of women and families across the country.
On Wednesday, June 15, please join us on Capitol Hill. Together, we will ride the wave of interest around the United State of Women with a morning of action!
*WHEN: 9:00am this coming Wednesday, June 15th!
*WHERE: Meet us across the street from the Supreme Court.
*WHAT: We have a jam-packed, big-impact day for you! We’ll be starting out the day by stopping by an important prayer vigil for sentencing reform, then we'll take a group picture together, and finally we’ll bring stories, experiences and priorities of moms across the nation directly to Congress.
Here are the groovy details of this exciting day:
Prayer Vigil for Sentencing Reform
9:00 - We'll meet in front of the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, directly across the street from the Supreme Court. There, we will kick off the day with a prayer vigil.
In order to keep up the pressure and urgency for sentencing reform, MomsRising, the Leadership Conference, the National Council of Churches, and the Interfaith Criminal Justice Coalition are bringing local faith leaders to Washington, D.C. for this tremendous interfaith effort demonstrating the diverse and strong support for sentencing reform. #JusticeReformNOW
Your Advocacy Immortalized!
10:00 - A photographer and videographer will arrive to take photos and shoot footage of our members -- especially our littlest volunteers! -- to document our moms, family members and kids standing up for positive change. CHILDREN WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED!
Bringing Our Stories to Congress
11:00 - We will head out to deliver stories from moms and families members across the country, telling lawmakers what it's like to parent in America today.
