Where moms and people who love them go to change our world
Your voice can make a difference in the fight to protect our rights to reproductive health and freedom!
Most women who have abortions are already moms. Being able to manage how many children we have and when we have them has been nothing short of revolutionary — not just for women and mothers, but for our country as a whole. It has helped to narrow the gender pay gap, improved the health of women and their families, and led women toward access to increased economic and political power.
Across the land, state governments like Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Missouri are considering bills designed to provoke the reversal of Roe versus Wade, which protects a woman’s right to choose under the U.S. Constitution. This coordinated effort to take away choice and deny reproductive health care involves states with some of the worst health outcomes for women, including high maternal and infant mortality rates. Politicians who say they value life should advocate for policies to solve the public health crises that are killing women and newborns, not dismantle women’s health care.
If the goal of those who are passing such severely restrictive laws was to avoid abortion, then they'd be passing access to free birth control, which is proven to lower abortion rates, not setting lifetime imprisonment laws for doctors who help people in need. What's really happening is a direct attack on women and moms having bodily autonomy, economic freedom, and sovereignty in our lives. Regardless of what anyone says: Abortion is basic health care. The people-- Black, Indigenous, Latina women, young people, people w/ low incomes and/or disabilities, chronic illness, LGBTQ+ -- with direct experience and who are most impacted by lack of access to it are not only often silenced but are the most powerful voices we have to help cut through the political rhetoric and get down to why it's important to protect reproductive health and freedom.

Have you or someone you love needed abortion services? Share your story to have it featured in our story books (click here to view an example) which we'll use to educate lawmakers on why it's important to STOP these plans to roll back our rights to reproductive health and freedom once and for all!
P.S. We want to be perfectly clear, abortion is still legal in every state in the United States, including in Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, and Louisiana as these laws have not taken effect yet. If you or someone you know needs an abortion, you are perfectly within your legal right to receive one. If you need help accessing an abortion or paying for one, go to the National Network of Abortion Funds (https://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.momsrising.org/images/C-Section-Book-FINAL.pdf).
