SCOPE AND APPLICATION
MomsRising Together and MomsRising Education Fund (collectively, “MomsRising,” “us,” or “we”) understand the importance of our users’ privacy. This Policy describes the treatment of information we collect from and about you when you visit momsrising.org and its subdomains, or use our other websites or services that contain a link to, or otherwise reference, this Policy (collectively, the “Services”). This Policy tells you how we use, share, and protect your information, and what choices you have about how your information is used.
The Services are for a general audience, and do not direct any content, products, or Services at children under 13 years of age. We understand and are committed to respecting the sensitive nature of children’s privacy online. If you are a user between the ages of 13 and 18, you may only use the Services through an account established by a parent or guardian, with that parent’s or guardian’s permission – provided that in your jurisdiction there is no requirement for you or your parent to provide any consent to MomsRising for a minor’s use beyond what is already provided in our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “personal information” means information that identifies a specific person, such as a full name, telephone number, email address, or physical mailing address.
COLLECTION OF INFORMATION
Information you provide to us
When you choose to make use of some features of the Services, such as signing up for our email list, sharing your stories and experiences, taking action on a campaign, and making donations, you will be asked to provide information, including personal information such as your email address, name, physical address, city and state of residence, and phone number.
Information you provide to a Giving Platform
There are a variety of third-party giving platforms that allow you to donate funds. Some of these platforms may be made available by your employer; others are generally available. Examples of these platforms include Benevity, Your Cause, Bright Funds, and Network for Good. If you make a donation through such a platform, you should review that platform’s terms and privacy policy to understand their privacy practices, including what information they collect from you and how they share it. Third party giving platforms may disclose a variety of information to us when you make a donation, including your name, address, phone number, email address, donation amount, reason for donating, and payment information. Personal information we collect from such platforms will be used in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Information Collected Automatically
In addition to information you choose to provide to us, we and our service providers automatically collect certain additional information. For example:
- IP Address and Other Identifiers. When you access and interact with our Services, MomsRising and our service providers may collect information about your visit in order to permit you to connect to and obtain the Services and to understand the frequency with which specific visitors visit various parts of our Services. For example, we may collect your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, which identifies the computer or service provider that you use to access the Services, or information about your browser type, unique device identifiers, and other software and hardware information. If you access the Services through a mobile or other similar device, we may collect your mobile device identifier, geolocation data (including your precise location), or other transactional information for that device. We may combine this information collected automatically with other information that we have collected, including personal information.
- Social Media Information and Content. If you access or log into our Services through a social media service or connect our Services to a social media service, the information we collect may also include your user ID and/or user name associated with that social media service, any information or content you have permitted the social media service to share with us – such as your profile picture, email address, or friends lists – and any information you have made public in connection with that social media service. When you access the Services through social media services or when you connect our Services to social media services, you are authorizing us to collect, store, and use such information and content in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
- Cookies. We and third parties including our service providers may use cookies in connection with the Services. Cookies are small text files that are stored on a user’s computer and allow websites to remember information about users. We and our service providers use cookies for a variety of purposes in order to enhance the quality of our sites. Transient (also called “session ID”) cookies provide continuity from page to page; they expire when you close your browser. We and third parties including our service providers also use persistent cookies. Persistent cookies allow us and our service providers to recognize your browser, to personalize your return visits to our Services, to gather analytics data, and in the case of cookies from our customer relationship management platform EveryAction, to remember choices you make and information you provide when you use their services (including on unaffiliated sites), for purposes including pre-filling forms with data from previous EveryAction sign-ups. You can find out more about EveryAction’s cookies at https://www.ngpvan.com/content/privacy-policy-eu-uk.
You have the choice to set your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set (each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.) It is up to you whether to allow us to send you cookies. However, if you do not accept cookies from us, your ability to use some aspects of our Services will be limited.
- Web beacons and other tracking technologies. We and third parties including our service providers may use other tracking tools, including so-called “pixel tags,” “web beacons,” “web bugs,” “clear GIFs,” etc. (collectively “Web Beacons”) to collect information about your activities on the Services. These are small electronic images embedded in web content (including online ads) and email messages, and are ordinarily not visible to users. Like cookies, Web Beacons enable us and our service providers to track pages and content (including ads) accessed and viewed by users. Also, when we send HTML-formatted (as opposed to plain text) emails to you, Web Beacons may be embedded in such emails to allow us to monitor readership levels so that we can identify aggregate trends and individual usage, to provide our audiences with more relevant content or engagement opportunities. Web Beacons in emails may recognize activities such as when an email was opened, how many times an email was forwarded, which links in the email were clicked, etc. Web Beacons cannot be declined when delivered via a regular web page. However, Web Beacons can be refused when delivered via email. If you do not wish to receive Web Beacons via email, you will need to disable HTML images or refuse HTML emails via your email software.
Our Partners and Service Providers
MomsRising relies on a number of other companies, agents, and/or contractors to perform services on our behalf or to assist us in operating MomsRising and providing the Services to you. For example, we may engage such service providers to provide marketing, advertising, communications, website hosting, infrastructure and IT services, to personalize and optimize the Services, process donations, provide customer service, collect debts, and analyze and enhance data. In the course of providing such services to us, these other companies may have access to information about you, including personal information.
One of our service providers is Google Analytics, which collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. To learn more about how Google Analytics collects and uses your data when you use the Services, and how you can control the information sent to Google Analytics, please review https://google.com/policies/privacy/partners.
Another of our service providers is NGP VAN, Inc., operating under the name EveryAction. EveryAction is a customer relationship management platform that enables us to store and process the information we collect, and that enables form pre-fill, as discussed in our Cookies section, above. You can review EveryAction’s privacy policy at: https://www.ngpvan.com/content/privacy-policy.
If you choose to make a donation through the Services, MomsRising uses certain payment processors, such as PayPal, to process your transaction. These payment processors provide us with information about your donation, which may include, e.g., your full name, billing address, email address, payment information, and donation amount. The information we receive from payment processors will be governed by this Privacy Policy. Information that you provide to a payment service will be subject to the payment service’s privacy policy. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, any payment service’s use of information collected through any payment service.
Third-Party Content
Some content you see on the Services is delivered by third parties who also collect information through cookies, web beacons, and other technologies that collect information about your online activities. For example, we use Facebook’s “Custom Audience pixel,” which helps us keep track of what users do after they see or click on a Facebook advertisement, so we can monitor the effectiveness of Facebook ads for purposes of statistics and market research. Facebook can connect this data with your Facebook account and use it for its own advertising purposes, in accordance with Facebook’s Data Policy which can be found at https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy. Similarly, we use addThis for social share buttons; their privacy policy can be found at: https://www.addthis.com/privacy.
Information Contained in User Content
Some parts of our Services, such as those that allow you to share information on a campaign action page or submit a blog post to our website, may allow users to post or transmit messages, comments, screen names, computer files, and other materials. If you choose to make personal information public through these Services, MomsRising will consider that information public and will not limit its use or disclosure in the manner described in this Privacy Policy.
Information from Other Sources
MomsRising and our service providers may supplement the information we collect from and about you with information from other sources, such as publicly available information from social media services and other commercially available sources.
Do Not Track Signals
At this time, our Services do not respond to “do not track” signals, including do not track signals sent from web browsers.
